The attitude of some of the Pine Bluffs business men toward The Pine Bluffs Post is withholding advertising patronage from that paper may force the owner of the printing plant to seek a new field. The Post can be printed anywhere in Laramie county, Wyoming without forfeiting its legal standing in the county or state. Should any person or firm desire to purchase the Post plant and business before February 1 they are invited to call at the office with their bank roll. Cash talks in this case.

The roads are in such a condition that it is impossible to get grain to the elevators.

About $200 damage to building and contents was reported as the result of a fire which was discovered Monday afternoon in the residence of Mrs. Wilma Hockersmith. The blaze, which was extinguished by the volunteer fire department before it had made much headway, was thought to have started either from spontaneous combustion or defective wiring. The building, which is on the corner of fifth and Market streets, is owned by B.K. Bunch and was covered by insurance, but the loss to Mrs. Hockersmith, which would amount to half of the estimated damage, was uninsured. A small dog, which was found in the house, had been suffocated by the smoke.

A cerebral hemorrhage was given as the cause of death of A. F. Everhart, 82, who dropped dead on Second Street here Monday morning. Mr. Everhart, who made his home here with his daughters, Mrs. Elda Burt and Miss ethel Everhart, was stricken as he was walking in front of the Lewis barber shop at about 10 o’clock.

It took Frank Cooney and his men until Sunday morning to locate his flock of 629 head of breeding ewes which had strayed away during the storm Saturday, after a four-wire fence on his place had allegedly been cut by coyote hunters who had been covering that part of the country lately.

Pine Bluffs will get a new gym! Finally after much work, planning and figuring District No. 7 school board members and Spiegelberg Construction company of Laramie, low bidder on the new facility, were able Friday night to come to a mutual re-arrangement and cost cutting by which construction is to commence on or about Mar. 15 on the $231,000 gym with completion date to be Sept. 1, 1964.

Pine Bluffs remained in the race for first place in the Texas Trail Conference by defeating Guernsey 70-59 here Friday. Frank Suppon scored 21 points to lead the Pine Bluffs scoring.

Two Grover high school freshman girls, Diane Dunbar 15, and Sandy Hastings 14, were overcome by carbon monoxide poisoning while returning from a basketball game at Hillrose Saturday night. Robert Vance, sponsor and science teacher at the school, and the driver, L.D. Sorensen, stopped the bus near Keota when the passengers began showing signs of illness. In spite of the freezing weather, all were let off the bus and walked awhile to get fresh air.

$25 million worth of capital facilities were the subject of a meeting in Cheyenne last Thursday between the county’s municipal governments, the county commissioners and a host of agencies seeking the funds for their pet projects. With just over $2 million in excess funds remaining in the county jail account, the subject of what to do with the money has been on the lips of a number of people. At the county commissioners meeting January 3 Burns mayor Harry Pauli and Pine Bluffs mayor Tim Conner once again called for the dispersal of the funds by the following formula. Each entity would get a minimum of $100,000.

Pine Bluffs FFA Chapter made a $120 donation to the Good Samaritan Fund last week. The funds came from a dance sponsored by the local high school group in December.

The Pine Bluffs Lady Hornets competed against the Kimball Lady Longhorns Friday on their home court and ran away with the game, winning 66-34 and remain undefeated.

The Albin Town Council unanimously voted to raise garbage rates at their regular scheduled meeting Wednesday night. Residents in Albin were paying $6.15 per month for garbage while businesses were paying $7.40. Due to the fact that the landfill has started to charge for loads being dumped, the council found it to be necessary to raise rates by $2.

Jeff Munoz of Pine Bluffs was selected ‘Employee of the Year’ at American Medical Response of Cheyenne.
