Obituary: Ruth I. Keslar


Ruth I. Keslar, 84, of Cheyenne, died Friday, Jan. 10, 2014 at Davis Hospice Center.

She was born July 16, 1929 in Whiteside County, Ill., daughter of Clarence and Edna (Summers) Maberry. Ruth attended schools in Illinois and graduated from the Katherine Shaw Bethea School of Nursing in Dixon, Ill. She moved to Hillsdale in 1951 and to Cheyenne in 1967.

Ruth married Elmer W. Keslar on Oct. 19, 1951 in Cheyenne. Mr. Keslar died on Feb. 2, 2013.

She was a member of the Cheyenne Brethren Church, the American Business Association, Good Sam Club, the Christian Women's Club, T.O.P.S., the Loving Hands sewing circle and NEEDS, Inc. She enjoyed reading, embroidery and camping.

Survivors include a daughter, Avis (Leonard) Mosher of Cheyenne; three sons, Matthew (Bernadette) Keslar of Rock Springs; Marvin (Toni) Keslar of Cheyenne and Terry (Donna) Keslar of Cheyenne; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and a sister, Helen Cleppe of Eugene, Oregon.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a sister, Avis Grove, and a brother, Loren Maberry.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, January 17, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel.  Interment will follow at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens.
