Mats don't lead to medals

Burns Pine Bluffs wrestling team participated in the Shane Shatto Memorial Wrestling Tournament in Douglas Friday and Saturday but came home empty handed.

"We did not have our best finish this weekend," Coach Dan Clayson said. "We struggled a little with the level of competition, but we just did not wrestle our best matches."

Leading the group was 170 pounds Cecil Brockman who finished just short of the medal round. Isaac Ronning, 106 pounds, Chase Vossler, 113 pounds, and River Schroeder 195 pounds, all made it to the second day, but lost in the fourthround of wrestle-backs.

"It was a good experience for our kids to be able to wrestle that level of competition," said Clayson.

The junior varsity kept the pride up for the squad with a good meet. Coy Keslar, 106 pounds, was undefeated, and won his bracket. Eldon Kelly 170 pounds, was third. and Dylan Kelly, 152 pounds and Dale Hackett 285 pounds placed fifth.
