Banner community news

Good morning! It has been cold outside. By the look of it it will continue to be this way for awhile yet. I did not give one thought to the amazing Pennsylvania Phil, the weather predicting groundhog last week.

Sunday came and with it reminders of him. One quote I seen by Maxine said “Super Bowl on Groundhog’s Day, count on winter going into six weeks of overtime.” That is another one that slipped my mind, the super bowl. Guess you can say my favorite part of that is the Clydesdales. And to quote Maxine one more time her “idea of a super bowl, is a toilet that cleans itself!”

Hope all of you that are fans enjoyed the game and had a great day while doing so! As we speak of games, I would just like to compliment the Wildcats on its excellent game, both in play and sportsmanship last Friday here against the Potter-Dix coyotes. I have watched some great games this year, but personally I thought that was your best effort yet. Great win guys, and to both teams your ‘Pink Out’ shirts in support of the fight against breast cancer was outstanding. On Feb. 7 the Wildcats will play against South Platte at 3:30 p.m. and at home Feb. 8 vs. Sioux County. That particular game will begin at 2 p.m. The high school wrestlers will be at Southeast on this date and the Speech team will be at Scottsbluff. Please call the school at 436-5262 for more information on any of these events. Other sporting action this week will continue Feb. 11 with the junior high basketball teams heading to Minatare for action at 2 p.m. and another high school basketball game here at home vs. Burns at 3 p.m.

School will dismiss early Feb 13, at 12:20 p.m. Parent-Teacher conferences will be held that day from 1-5 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. A meal will once again be served to patrons during this time, and served to you by members of the school board. This date will also be the first day of the junior high MAC tournament which will be held at Garden County (Oshkosh).

Good luck to everyone and safe travel whenever and wherever you will be traveling. Just a reminder here that there will be NO SCHOOL February 14- 18. Teachers and staff will return earlier however and several sports games will be played which I will remind you of as they draw near. Valentine’s Day parties for the elementary students will be held Feb. 12. Happy Birthday! Anniversary congrats go out to Mr.& Mrs. Shane Cochrane. There is quite a lot going on north of us this upcoming week.
