Obituary: Robert Leroy Eisenhauer

Robert Leroy Eisenhauer, 85, of Cheyenne (formerly of Laramie) died Jan. 31in Cheyenne. He was born May 22, 1928, in Wolbach, Neb., to Harry and Truly (Padgett) Eisenhauer. The family moved to Pine Bluffs in 1942 where he graduated high school in 1947. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1948-1952, including two amphibious landings at Inchon and Wonsan during the Korean Conflict.

At the end of his service, Bob met Geraldine (Gerry) Geaney in San Francisco, California. They married on Aug. 3, 1952, and returned to Pine Bluffs where he managed a gas station with his brother Lloyd. He worked for Farm Bureau Insurance; was a VFW post manager in Laramie; co-owned and operated the Plaza Bar; and worked for the University of Wyoming from 1968-1991, first as Stadium Superintendent until 1981 and then at Physical Plant (Buildings and Grounds) until he retired in 1991.

Bob enjoyed fishing, fly tying, camping, hunting, cooking, football and basketball games, playing cards, dancing, traveling, time with family and friends, and adventures with his brothers, "The Wild Bunch."

Bob is survived by his loving children, Cindy Heryford of Lander, Mike Eisenhauer and Wayne Eisenhauer of Laramie, and Suzanne and Tim Sitzman of Cheyenne; grandchildren, Levi and Heidi Heryford, Liz and Chance Pollo, Caitlin Heryford and Stas Lipatov, and Erin Wolpert and Dan Pinneo; two great-grandchildren, Harlow and Jasper Heryford; brothers and sisters-in-law, Delbert and Jean, Lloyd and Betty, Tom and Mary Ann, Howard and Karin, and Loren Eisenhauer; brother-in-law, Harry McMahon; numerous nieces and nephews; and his dog, Dixie.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Gerry; parents, Harry and Truly; brother, Don (killed in action in WWII); nephew, John Eisenhauer; sister-in-law, Louise McMahon; and brother-in-law, Billy Geaney.

Cremation has taken place under the care of Schrader Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul Catholic Church on Pine Bluffs with Father Kevin Koch officiating.

Interment will be in Pine Bluffs Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, family requests memorials be made to the VFW, Davis Hospice of Cheyenne, or Cheyenne Animal Shelter.
