Cheyenne Light announces gas main replacement project

Company engineers look to replace 65,000 feet of gas main, affecting 140 customers A map of what streets may be affected in future construction is available at the Pine Bluffs Town Hall.

Cheyenne Light Fuel and Power is tentatively looking to begin a gas main replacement project in the town of Pine Bluffs in April.

Public Information Officer for Cheyenne Light Fuel and Power Sharon Fain announced Feb. 18 in the Pine Bluffs Town Council meeting that the company's engineers are planning to replace about 65,000 feet of gas main throughout the town, effecting 140 customers. Fain presented a map to the Pine Bluffs Town Council, showing what streets would be effected once the project began.

Fain said in the meeting Parsons Street and North Main Street would be among the town roads needed to be dug up to commence with the project.

Fain announced the company provided updates about the gas mains in Pine Bluffs about a year ago. She said company engineers did a walkthrough of the system in November with town of Pine Bluffs staff.

Fain said the reason for the replacement project is to ensure the system is safe for all users.

"We want to make sure the lines are safe and reliable for our customers," Fain said.

Cheyenne Light Fuel and Power has not set up a timeline or concrete start date for the project, but engineers are tentatively looking at beginning the project in April. Engineers estimate the project will take three to four months to complete.

"With the replacement of this gas main we are looking at not having to dig up any ground with years to come," Fain said.

Fain said Cheyenne Light Fuel and Power will schedule construction around town events, such as Trail Days.

"If there is anything we need to schedule around the town, we would be happy to do that," Fain said.
