Bushnell community news

The village board meeting was held Wednesday, March 12. The health board is still working on the cleanup of the lumberyard property. The junk vehicles will be impounded and held in a designated spot on the south side of the lagoon for 30 days and will then be sold for salvage if not claimed.

The board discussed increasing water and sewer rates. They decided to increase the sewer rate from $8.90 to $10 and the water base rate from $29 to $31. However, they will also put into place a change in the water usage rate - the first 2000 gallons will be free (they used to be $2 per 1000/gallons), and the rate after that first 2000 gallons will remain at $2 per 1000/gallons. So those of you who use 2000 gallons or less of water each month will actually save $2 per month on your water bill, which more than makes up for the increase in the sewer rate change. There will be a public hearing at the next regular board meeting for the new resolution to change the rates.

The next board meeting will be held Wednesday, April 9 at 7 p.m.

The Granny Craft Club meets Tuesday, March 25.
