Student of the week: Harmonie Lawton

Carpenter Elementary fifth grader Harmonie Lawton, daughter to Lori and Micheal Lawton, found an interest in mathematics in kindergarten, and that interest has only grown since.

"It stands out from reading and language arts," she said. "It's the only subject where you are dealing with a bunch of numbers."

Lawton said she is among the students in her math class that finish course work early, providing her the opportunity to do extra credit assignments called "challenge sheets".
