New reporter becomes part of new town

Life is full of new adventures whether you're the new kid in school or have a new baby. For me, I'm the new Reporter for the Pine Bluffs Post. I live in Cheyenne, Wyoming, and so far I don't mind the 30 minute farm-view drive.

My family moved from California to Wyoming 11 years ago. I still enjoy visiting California whenever I have the opportunity to go on vacation. One of the main reasons why I enjoy California is because its home to some of my childhood friends. It's fun for me to meet back up with my friends and see what they have done throughout the years. Now that I'm older, I think its fascinating to see how much my friends have grown because I've known them since kindergarden. California is also home to my dads' side of the family. They are always throwing events whether its an anniversary or a wedding. Other reasons to visit California are the amusement parks. I've always enjoyed going to Disneyland or Sea

World, however, no amusement park beats going to the beach.

I've enjoyed living in Cheyenne and have made new childhood friends by attending Hobbs Elementary School, McCormick Junior High and Central High School. I began attending Hobbs when I was in fifth grade. When I attended McCormick, I played the flute and performed at concerts with the band. At Central, I was on the swim team for four years. Instead of making friends, we made a family and the team felt as if it were a sisterhood. I was also in FFA for four years in high school where I was a member on the Agricultural Issues team and participated in the county fair and showed my goat, Snickers.

During my junior year at CHS I was a contestant in the Junior Miss Pageant. I won the "Be your best self award" which included tuition money, as well as winning a two year scholarship to Laramie County Community College. I attend LCCC for two years and received my Associates Degree in Mass Media and Multimedia. While I was

at LCCC, I worked for the Wingspan newspaper. I was the Photo Editor and the Features Editor. My main interest is photography. One of my photos in the Wingspan May issue of 2012 placed first nation-wide for Breaking News Photography in the Society of Professional Journalists Mark of Excellence Awards. I've gained a lot of knowledge since attending college and hope to continue gaining more from my new job.

I enjoy summer because of the hot weather. It's also the perfect time to go swimming which is my favorite activity. I also enjoy riding my horse and I might not be the only cowgirl who would prefer riding on a warm day than on a snowy one. I've recently been learning how hula hoop and learning how to do different tricks with the hoop.
