Museum gets unexpected funding

Once a museum that relied greatly on donations and $10 membership fees received a $589,000 bonus earlier this year.

"We are excited about the opportunities this gives us," said Texas Trail Museum President Tim Nolting.

Nolting announced April 19 at the museum's annual business meeting and lunch that the museum received a generous, and unexpected, $589,000 from Curtis Bowser, who passed away.

Bowser donated some money to the museum in previous years, and left some money to the Texas Trail Museum in his will.
