Hornets make first touchdown for homecoming

The Pine Bluffs Hornets Football team was defeated in its homecoming game by the South East Cyclones Friday in Pine Bluffs, 36-22.   

The Hornets scored the first touchdown in the first quarter. Haize Fornstrom passed the football to Trent Werner for 15-yards. Werner made the touchdown. However, the two point conversion run by Preston Thurin was no good. 

The score at the end of the first quarter was 6-0. 

At the beginning of the second quarter, Cyclone's Jeff Burroughs ran for 5-yards to score a touchdown. The point after kick by Kenny Randall gave the cyclones an extra point. 

Burroughs made another touchdown with four minutes on the time board. Burroughs ran 30-yards to score this touchdown but the point after kick by Randall was no good. 

The score at the end of the second quarter was 6-13, with Cyclones taking the lead. 

Coming to the end of the third quarter, Randall scored a touchdown when he made a 27-yard field goal. 

Then, Burroughs ran for 65-yards and scored another touchdown. Randall's point after kick was good. 

With about a minute on the time board, Scott Gross ran for 46-yards to score a touchdown for the Hornets. Thurin was able to get a few more points for the Hornets during a two point conversion run. 

The score at the end of the third quarter was 14-23.

At the start of the fourth quarter, Burroughs passed the ball to Conner Humphrey for 85-yards to score a touchdown. Randall made another point after kick. 

The Hornets made a sting at the Cyclones when Fornstrom passed to Bymer for 37-yards and scored a touchdown. Thurin made another two point conversion run. 

The Cyclones finished the game when Burroughs ran for 34-yards and scored a touchdown. However, The point after kick by Randall was blocked. 

"Fornstrom was 12/30 for 206 yards. One of the plays we had the plus/minus field position wrong," Will Grey, Pine Bluffs Football coach, said. "Bymer had three catches for 138."

Friday is a bye week for the Hornets. Their next game will be Oct. 3 at home against Lusk.
