Sewer smell leads to daycare evacuation

Burns daycare will no longer be held in the Burns Plex due to bad sewer smell.

Mayor Judy Johnstone said the sewer smell came with the building when the town bought it in the 1980s.    

“We’ve tried all different things and nothing has addressed the problem to anyone’s satisfaction,” Johnstone said. 

For Daycare owner, Jessica Loyd, the unpleasant smell is the beginning of her problems. 

The State license reported the sewer smell to Environmental Health on Wednesday, Sept. 17. Environmental Health inspected the daycare area on Friday Sept. 19.
