Land of the free, because of the brave

With Veterans Day coming up, I am reminded of the long line of Veterans in my own family.

My father Jack Hobbs was the youngest of the infamous Hobbs boys. Each one of the five boys were World War ll veterans. I would sit between my father and his brother Frank soaking in every word the two spoke. Those moments usually ended in my side hurting from the laughter that came from those conversations. One such conversation will live in my mind forever.

One spring, my father came to my Uncle Frank with a way they could make money for the summer. My uncle, who was always game for one of my father...
