The end of an era in Pine Bluffs occurred earlier this week, as another piece of Pine Bluffs history was demolished. The Sunset Motel, pictured in 1961, the last of the 'Mom and Pop' motels in this part of southeast Wyoming, at the corner of US Highway 30 and Miller St. is no more. Built in 1932, with a WWII era feel, the former owners and operators, Doris and Dwight Merrick, had 17 units, which boasted of in-room phones and refrigerated air, while the much photographed sign outside promoted in-room color television.
