Ragsdale signs Letter of Intent

Pine Bluffs senior Jaden Ragsdale, 18, has signed a letter of intent with Frank Phillips College in Borger, Texas.

The college, located 40 minutes north of Amarillo, offered Ragsdale a nearly full-ride scholarship and the chance to play college volleyball.

“I enjoy basketball but I've really enjoyed volleyball. It just comes naturally to me, I enjoy playing it and I have seen myself playing in college for the last five years,” Ragsdale said “Its hard to pass up a scholarship like that and I like the Texas atmosphere down there.”

Ragsdale visited the college prior to signing with them and had the opportunity to practice with her future team. Ragsdale said she doesn't expect to experience much difficulty transitioning to college far away from friends and family.

“I live by myself already right now,” Ragsdale said. “I'm a pretty independent girl and I like new adventures so I think its going to be good.”

Ragsdale, who has attended school in Pine Bluffs every year but her junior year, believes that Pine Bluffs schools have prepared her for college life and helped her develop the confidence she has now.

But one of her strongest supporters comes from the one year she played volleyball in Benkelman Neb.., Coach Williams.

“I had a coach at my old school who has helped me with everything I guess, with my volleyball and everything,” Ragsdale said. “She's been there, she has texted me before every college visit telling me good luck. She just has been there and helped me with whatever decision I have made.”

The 5'10” middle hitter said she is leaning towards obtaining a business degree while playing volleyball and then possibly attending a cosmetology program further in the future.
