Firefighters get hands-on training in grain bin extrication

Firefighters from all over Laramie County, Bushnell and Grover attended special training for Grain entrapment extrication at Laramie County Fire District 5 in Pine Bluffs this past weekend. Pictured are two of the firefighters inside of grain bin simulator provided by Ray and Travis Freeburg.

Laramie County Fire District 5 of Pine Bluffs, and Laramie County Fire District 4 of Carpenter, worked together to co-host a Grain Entrapment Extrication Class this past weekend.

Departments from Wyoming, Nebraska, and Colorado took part with about 40 firefighters attending. Departments represented were Laramie County Fire Districts 1,3,4,5 and 6; Bushnell, and Pawnee from Grover.

The course was instructed by Tim Zehnder from Mid Plains Community College in McCook, Ne. Course content included using grain tubes that had been acquired by LCFD 5 and LCFD 4, as well as using rope rescue equipme...
