Some efforts seem excessive to us. I have a young man in my life that has more faith than I see in people five times his age. And yet, he put in three years of effort to study Martin Luther’s catechism and receive his first communion this past Sunday. Not all wasted effort is what it seems. Who knows how many Derik Earl Smith will encourage with his educated faith. Congratulations, Derik, for reaching another high limb to rest on for a while.
