Pine Bluffs place second and third at SEWAC

Meet just misses bad weather

Old Man Winter and Jack Frost may have had plans to disrupt this past weekend's SEWAC meet in Lusk, but the powers that be had other ideas, and moved the meet up one day, enabling athletes to complete their events ahead of the rain and snow.

The Pine Bluffs varsity girls team came in third, while the Pine Bluffs boys team took second place honors. Junior high athletes also participated in this meet, with Pine Bluffs girls team placing second and the boys team placing third.

According to Coach Dustin Lee even though the weather was chilly, the moisture held off long enough for the last race to be run, and despite the weather, his athletes left with “some really good marks!”

“Four of our athletes auto-qualified for the state track meet today,” Lee said. “Jadyn Golding and Montanna Chrystal in the Long Jump, and Kyle Jeffres in the Shot Put, and Hunter Thompson in the Discus Throw. Thompson also tied the school record in the High Jump with an amazing 6-6.”

In girls track, Montanna Chrystal, Brooke Darden and Jadyn Golding all placed in the top ten in the 100m Dash, second, fourth and seventh. Chrystal and Darden, along with Taylen Fornstrom, also placed in the top ten in the 200m Dash, coming in third, fourth and eighth.

In the Hurdles, Kayla Thurin, Shayna Held and Jaclyn Davison placed sixth, seventh and eighth in the 110m, while Held and Morgan Cline finished eighth and ninth in the 300m, followed by Thurin in twelfth.
