Steers and bulls in rare form at Friday night rodeo

There is a saying that close only applies to horseshoes, and that was pretty much the case during the open Breakaway competition. This young lady was ready with her dally rope, she and her ride gave it their best shot, and she was close, but the calf was just a step ahead of her, and managed to avoid being caught.

The Friday Night =G Rodeo series resumed in Pine Bluffs last week, with cowboys and cowgirls from all over the states of Wyoming, Colorado and Nebraska. One cowgirl was from Colorado by way of Florida.

Despite the cold, damp windy weather the rain stayed at bay, and all of the events were completed, although the Steer Riding and Open Bull Riding events did not pay out as the steers and bulls were in rare form, and not one of the riders was able to stay on for the required six or eight seconds. There were bulls with names like C-3 and 9-1-1, and they lived up to them.
