Serving all of Eastern Laramie County since 1908

Banner County News

Good morning Banner County, friends near and far. This week has been Kimball/Banner County Fair week and most of you have been down that road either from personal experience as youngsters, with your own kids, grandkids, or all three. It was a good fair week, although the rain could have held off just a little.

Blue & Purple ribbons for our two, lots of fun, hard work, and some sad faces on sale day. We were lucky enough to keep our one granddaughter for a night or two, and she really enjoyed all of the bounce houses, especially the one set up with a slide and water pool at the bottom. The blown up palm trees were a nice touch. She liked the animal barn quite a lot too.

On Thursday evening, when all of the pigs were unloaded and the barn was full, I asked her what she thought of all of the pigs. She replied, "I like them grandma, but they make me pretty hungry for bacon!" Guess she was seeing things from a totally different angle.

At Bushnell on that same day, The Sisters Grimm will Host ' Windblown Arts Festival' beginning at 2 p.m. and continuing until approximately 8 p.m. There will be live music, food, crafts.

It is with a heavy heart that I report on news here in Harrisburg this week. We send our deepest sympathy to all of the family of Brad Cross, but especially to his mom, Barbara, and wife and kids, Barb, Seth , Kelly and Holly. When we loose our loved ones through illness it is always so hard, but unexpected accidents seem harder yet because they just catch us unprepared. Farm accidents are always such a tragedy.

School in-service for Banner County School teachers will be held this Thursday and Friday, Aug. 13 and 14. School begins bright and early Monday , Aug. 17. Whoot-whoot!! I am not ready for all that involves, but I am ready for a couple of kids to be separated. Monday, football, volleybal, and cross-country practice all begin.

On Wednesday, Aug. 19, the driver's license person will be at the Banner County Courthouse from 9 a.m. to noon for your testing pleasure. Good luck with that.

Celebrating a birthday this week is: Ruth Ammon, Andrew Delcamp, Kaitlynn Adrain, Laura Baker, Randa Lee May, Stacey Bolin, Debbie Cochran, Ernie Griffiths, Jim Revelle and Andrew Mount. Happy Birthda!

Celebrating an anniversary are Mr. & Mrs. David Griffiths, Mr. and Mrs. Danny Gifford, Mr. and Mrs. Ron Havengar, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Faden, Mr. and Mrs. Buford Carter and Mr. and Mrs. David Whelchel.

Well folks, have a great week and take care until next time. Call me at 308-436-1752, 308-641-1335, or write to me at [email protected]. Barb Cross (Mrs. Rod).
