Hornets shut out Lusk

Lewis rushes for 235 yards, three touchdowns

It was a wet and rainy-filled evening as Ruger Lewis kept his footing, Friday, as he wracked up 235 yards rushing and three touchdowns in the shutout victory against Lusk, 32-0.

“I thought the kids did a good job ignoring the elements,” said Coach Will Gray about the weather.

“We were physical up front and able to run the ball, which was essential due to the downpour we played in,” Gray said.

Not only did the Hornets perform well on offensive, Gray was complimentary of the play on the other side of the ball, too.

“Defensively we tackled much better and controlled the line of scrimmage,” he said.

With solid performances on both sides of the ball, coach Gray said, “It was a great win for our program.”

Lewis had a stellar night as he tallied 235 yards on 33 caries with three touchdowns. Isiah Montanes had five carries for 14 yards, Kyle Jeffres had nine carries for 73 yards, Trent Werner had 2 carries for six yards, and Haize Fornstrom had four carries for nine yards.

Fornstrom led the Hornets passing effort with 2 completions on six attempts with a touchdown.

Jeffres caught one pass that went for 17 yards and a touchdown. Kyle Steger had one catch for 14 yards. Steger also recovered a fumble in the end zone for a touchdown.

The Hornets will take on Upton at home this Friday at their Homecoming game. Upton is currently 4-1 on the season. They will be coming off a loss to Lingle-Ft.Laramie.
