Coyotes fall to Eagles in playoffs

Pawnee junior quarterback Owen Wahlert fires to sophomore receiver Trent Holzworth (84) to connect on a touchdown pass against Eads in the first round of the CHSAA six-man football playoffs on November 7. The Coyotes fell 66-38 to end their season at 6-3.

The season ended November 7 for the Pawnee Coyotes with a 66-38 loss to the Eads Eagles in the quarterfinals of the CHSAA 6-Man Football Playoffs.

Pawnee was looking good at the start, with quarterback Owen Wahlert hitting Drew Ellis for a touchdown to get the Coyotes on the board. Senior Luke Duggan ran for another touchdown to give Pawnee a 14-6 lead at the end of the first quarter.

The Eagles were able to outpace Pawnee 18-16 in the second quarter to cut the Coyotes lead to 30-22 at the break.

The second half was a much different game.

Eads scored 24 unanswered points in the third quarte...
