Christmas tree cutting permits now available

Christmas tree cutting permits went on sale Nov. 23, at both the Pine Ridge and Bessey Ranger Districts. The permits entitle the purchaser to harvest one Ponderosa Pine or Eastern Red Cedar, up to 15 feet tall from selected areas in the Nebraska National Forest near Chadron and Halsey.

The permits are available at the following offices Monday through Friday:

Supervisor Office/Pine Ridge Office at 125 N. Main Street in Chadron, 7:30-4:30 MST.

Bessey Office is located at 40637 River Loop Road near Halsey, 8:30-5:00 CST.
