Winter Storm Warning in effect - UPDATE

A Winter Storm Warning is in effect until Midnight MST tonight.

The national weather service in Cheyenne has issued a winter storm warning for snow and blowing snow. Which is in effect until Midnight MST tonight. The winter weather advisory is no longer in effect.

Timing:

Through midnight tonight.

Total Snow Accumulations:

Additional snowfall of 1 to 4 inches with total accumulations of 4 to 8 inches.

Winds/Visibility: Winds becoming north 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 45 mph. Visibilities will be reduced to zero at times.

Impacts: Main impacts will be to transportation. Roads will become snow covered along with blowing and drifting snow making travel difficult.

Precautionary/Preparedness Actions:

Avoid travel in the warning area. If you are planning to travel in the warning area, listen to the latest weather forecast and consider traveling at another time or by another route. If you must travel in the warning area, use extreme caution when approaching and driving over railroad crossings. Take along a winter survival kit. If you become stranded in a rural area, stay with your vehicle until help arrives. To keep warm in your vehicle. Run your engine 10 minutes each hour, and make sure the exhaust pipe is clear of snow to avoid carbon monoxide poisoning.


Widespread snow for southeast Wyoming and the Nebraska Panhandle today.

A Pacific storm system will move into eastern nebraska by this evening. This storm system will continue to produce widespread snow across southeast Wyoming and western Nebraska Panhandle today. Snow will taper off from west to east late today and tonight. Storm total snow accumulations are generally expected to be in the 4 to 8 inch range across southeast Wyoming and western Nebraska Panhandle. The highest snow accumulations will occur over the Snowy and Sierra Madre mountain ranges with around one foot or more of snow accumulation. Winds will increase to 15 to 30 mph producing some blowing snow... Mainly along and east of Interstate 25... Including the western Nebraska Panhandle.
