Thurin steps off the gridiron

Pine Bluffs Junior High coach Matt Thurin will be taking some time off from coaching football next season. Thurin said he still plans to coach boys basketball and track at PBJH, but it was time to take a season off from the gridiron.

The next time the Pine Bluffs Junior High football team takes the field, it will be without a familiar face on the sideline. Coach Matt Thurin has decided to take a break from coaching football, but he will still be active with other sports.

"I've been coaching for 28 years, so it was time to take a little break," said Thurin.

Thurin has been around football for a long time, having first played in the Pop Warner league in 1967.

His coaching career began at Pine Bluffs Junior High, where he coached for six years, starting in 1988. He then coached at Banner County High School in Nebraska for...
