Pine Bluffs Post - Serving all of Eastern Laramie County since 1908

Albin News

Not many billionaires reside in Albin or even Laramie county. However, there could be one more this week. Have you bought your ticket? Maybe you are a first time buyer. It might be a waste of $2, but if you don’t play, you can’t win. And paying $2 to dream of the “what ifs” is a pretty good deal.

We did, however, hit the lottery with snow. Even with the nice weekend and the wind on Sunday, it looks like it is here to stay.

Some residents who are almost as good to have as a winning lottery ticket are celebrating their birthdays. Bob Anderson blew out his candles January 9, along with Louis Jacobsen, who turned 80 this year. Louis and Richard will celebrate their 60 wedding anniversary this year as well. Talk about winning the love lottery.

January 14 is marked on the Malm’s calendar. Fanny Malm will be celebrating like a millionaire.

Courtnei Romsa, David’s wife and the awesome second grade teacher at Albin Elementary, turns another year sweeter January 14.

Exciting as the lottery is, I would rather watch a good game of basketball. The Albin Wildcat boys basketball team will be home Tuesday, January 19, starting at 5:30 p.m. The Albin Wildcat girls basketball team will play at home January 21 beginning at 5:30 p.m. There will be concessions and plenty of action. If you would like to help by officiating or keeping score, contact the community center. They always welcome volunteers.

If you do win the lottery, your basket might be pretty bountiful. But if you are like the rest of us and Thursday morning finds you still on a budget, you might consider Bountiful Baskets. They are in Albin every two weeks with fresh fruits and vegetables at a very non-millionaire price. It is too late to order this week, but you could stop by the community center Saturday morning to see what all the fuss is about. Call the center for more information.

The Albin Town council will meet tonight, Thursday, at 7 p.m. Morning too exciting on the agenda but your insights are appreciated.

Good luck to you in the big drawing. And if a million or two is burning a hole in your pocket, we can always find a place for it in our wallets.
