Hornets claim Regional title

Will face Big Piney to open State Tournament

How do you defend a 6' 11" junior? You can't! That's what the Sundance Bulldogs discovered last Thursday as Hunter Thompon slams two of his 23 points through the hoop. Sundance was steamrolled 74-37 by the Pine Bluffs Hornets in the first round of the 2A regional tournament in Cheyenne. The Hornets claimed back-to-back titles by beating Big Horn last Saturday.

After sweeping through the regional tournament in Cheyenne last weekend, the Pine Bluffs Hornets have punched their ticket to the State tournament in Casper this weekend as a number one seed.

The Hornets will kickoff the tournament against number 4 seed Big Piney at 9 p.m. on Thursday, at Casper College.

The Hornets began their Regional play with a win against Sundance, 74-37.

The first quarter of play was close as Pine Bluffs scored 19 while Sundance scored 15.

Pine Bluffs added 12 to their total in the second while holding Sundance to nine.

At the half the Hornets had a comfortable 31-24...
