This is the first part of a four-part weekly series to focus on the Laramie County Commissioner race before the August 16 primary election.

A former Laramie County Commissioner has decided to run for one of two open seats on the commission because he feels there is a lack of communication between county commissioners and the people whom they're elected to represent.

M. Lee Hasenauer, who says he is a strong conservative, threw his hat in the ring for the open seat earlier this year.

"I'm running as a citizen, not as a politician," Hasenauer said Monday.
