Burns junior netter Ariana Cudney (13) attacks the net for a return against Lusk last Friday at home. The Lady Broncs swept the Lady Tigers 3-0 (25-22, 25-15, 25-13).

The Pine Bluffs Lady Hornets suffered a couple setbacks with back-to-back losses to Kimball and Southeast on Sept. 15 and 16.

"It was a tough week of competition however our hardest opponent was ourselves," said coach Lisa Gilbert. "Our unforced errors killed us at crucial times. I did see a lot of good things happening.We will focus more on pressure situations in practice to help cut down on unforced errors."

The Lady Hornets went into last weekend looking to bounce back. They were able to take two out of three matches in tournament play at Potter-Dix to improve their record to 10-4-1.

They beat Sedgwick County 2-0 (25-8, 25-17) and posted a close 2-0 win over Burns (25-20, 25-23), but fell to Potter Dix 0-2 (15-25, 23-25).

"The girls had a good tournament," said coach Lisa Gilbert. "We served 94 percent as a team and had a 33-percent kill percentage. We still need to cut down on our unforced errors but it did improve from the previous week."

The Lady Hornets will be traveling to Lusk on Friday before they play a string of home matches against Glenrock on Oct. 1, Lingle-Ft. Laramie on Oct. 4 and Leyton, Neb. on Oct. 6.

The Burns Lady Broncs also went 2-1 at the Potter-Dix tournament after a 3-1 loss to Southeast on Sept. 20 and a 3-0 win over Lusk on Sept. 23.

The Lady Broncs will head to Lingle-Ft. Laramie on Friday before having nearly a week off before they host Glenrock on Oct. 7.
