The man behind the faces of the Veterans Memorial

These four life-size sculptures designed by Carl Jensen of Wheatland were recently dedicated as part of the new Pine Bluffs Veterans Memorial and Community Plaza. Jensen said the sculptures were inspired and cast from real people and represent a soldier, airman, marine and sailor.

After hundreds of hours over the course of two years, many working hands, and the imagination of Carl Jensen of Wheatland, Wyo., four life-size statues are now at home in Pine Bluffs at the Veteran's Memorial and Community Plaza downtown.

Each sculpture represents a branch of the United States military – Marine, Sailor, Soldier and Airman.

According to Jensen, project founder Larry Silvey contacted him in the summer of 2014 to have four statues created to commemorate veterans of all walks of life.
