Tools for one woman's fight against breast cancer

Breast cancer survivor Sonja Fornstrom, left, tapes Pine Bluffs Teacher Pat Walter to the wall during the "Pink Out" night at the Pine Bluffs versus Lusk volleyball game Friday. The Pine Bluffs FBLA Chapter hosted the "Tape a Teacher to the Wall" fundraiser to raise money for the American Cancer Society. A total of $206 was raised and will be sent to the society in honor of Pine Bluffs head volleyball Coach Lisa Gilbert, who is battling her own fight.

Today, like most days since being hired by the Town of Pine Bluffs as the town's recreation director, she can be seen getting ready for whatever she has up her sleeve to bring recreational activities to the town's residents. Lately, she's been hurrying about to get the last minute details complete for the town's annual Halloween carnival and spaghetti supper. Although just short four years ago, she got the diagnosis no one wants to hear: breast cancer.

Sonja Fornstrom can laugh while discussing her journey today, however that wasn't always the case. About 10 to 12 years prior, a childhood...
