Lady Hornets wrap up season; head to regionals


The Pine Bluffs Lady Hornets are prepping for regional play as they head into the weekend as the top seed in the south division of the 2A regional volleyball tournament held in Torrington. Pine Bluffs will take on the number four seed the Upton Lady Bobcats beginning at 3 p.m. on Friday.

Pine Bluffs hosted Lusk Friday, Oct. 21 and came out with a 3-0 win (27-25, 25-18, 25-14).

Traveling to Glenrock, Wyo., to compete against the Lady Herders, the Pine Bluffs team came home with a defeated Saturday in four sets (25-23, 20-25, 20-25, 24-26).

Junior Kenzie Graves had perfect serving of 33 with two aces, 29 digs, three kills, 72 assists and one stuff block and teammate Kammie Ragsdale added 37 kills, 29 digs, two stuff blocks, and was 20 of 24 at the serving line with three aces. Senior Ashlyn Culp contributed one kill, 18 digs and was 30 of 30 at the serving line with one ace and Sophie Howard came up with eight kills, seven digs, and 5.5 stuff blocks.

Sierra Shelit slammed 18 kills, had 34 digs, one stuff block and came away from the serving 26 of 29 with four aces and Melissa Fornstrom provided 23 digs, two kills and had 23 perfect serves with two aces.

Hyleigh Fornstrom had 10 kills, four digs and two stuff blocks while Senior Jadyn Golding had 27 digs and went 21 of 22 at the serving line. Paige Thompson added seven kills and two digs.

The Lady Hornets record before going into the regional tournament stands at 17-6-1.
