Hereford News

Merry Christmas and remember Jesus is the reason for the season, and everyday all year long.

On Sunday, December 18, there were two services at the Hereford Community Church. At the morning service Steve Hauer was celebrating his birthday. The 4th Advent candle was lit by Rosalyn, Andrea, and Tommy Reifschneider. For the special Steve Hauer sang Mary Did You Know? The sermon topic was What Child Is This? One of the scriptures was Isaiah 9:6 and 7. The child referred to was Jesus.

On Sunday evening the church held their Christmas Candlelight service. Pastor Opdycke lit the Advent candles. There were several specials. First Andrea Reifschneider played Silent Night on the piano. Carolyn Ragsdale read Two Babes In A Manger. And Steve Hauer sang He Was Still Her Little Child and Sent By The Father. The sermon topic was Light - Jesus is the light of the world. The scripture was the Christmas story from Luke 2:1-20 and Matthew 2:1-12.They continued with the candlelight ceremony, then everyone received a bag of treats. A special THANK YOU to the Texas Trail Market for the donation of oranges for the treat bags.

There will not be a service next Sunday, December 25, so families can spend the day together. On January 1 Holy Communion will be served and the sermon topic will be The New You. Then on January 8 the church will hold their quarterly business meeting at 10 a.m. before the worship service. The sermon topic that day will be Drink the Water.

We would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas! If you have any news to share, you can contact me at 970-895-2433 or email [email protected]
