Lady Broncs keep fighting for wins

Brittani Wilson brings the ball up the court for the Lady Broncs in hardwood action from earlier in the season. After going 1-3 this past weekend, the Burns girls stand at 2-8 on the season.

The Burns Lady Broncs stand at 2-8 on the season after a tough weekend that saw the squad go 1-3 in Yoder.

After taking off for the Christmas break, the Lady Broncs opened the new year fighting and clawing for every win.

Last Friday, the girls fell 48-23 to Big Horn and then lost 40-30 to Shoshoni later in the day.

Saturday brought the girls a 63-36 loss at the hands of Tongue River, but the Lady Broncs able to defeat Kaycee 54-30 to come away with one win.

Against Big Horn, Brittani Wilson had 12 points, Willow Martin had 4, Malli O'Neal had 3 and Kelsey Faircloth and Madisyn Mirich each had 2.

Against Shoshoni, Katie Norris led Burns with eight points, followed by O'Neal with six, Mirich with four, Meghan Murphy, Wilson and Faircloth with three each and Korbin Liley with two.

On Saturday against Tongue River, Madisyn Mirich led Lady Bronc scoring with nine points, O'Neal had seven, Martin and Norris each had five, Faircloth had four, Wilson and Jakobi Mirich each had three.

In the win over Kaycee, Faircloth tallied 17 points, followed by Wilson with 11, Martin with 9, O'Neal and Norris each had 6, Murphy had 3 and Madisyn Mirich had 2.

The Lady Broncs traveled to Mitchell, Neb. on Jan. 10 but were not available before the newspaper went to print. Results from that game, as well as the upcoming contests against Glenrock at Burns on Friday, Jan. 13 and from the girls' trip to Lusk on Saturday, Jan. 14.
