The freight train known as the Pine Bluffs Hornets pulled into Potter, Neb. last Friday night and a packed gym at Potter-Dix Jr./Sr. High School was witness to what makes Pine Bluffs such a tough opponent.
The Coyotes took an early 2-0 lead at the start of the game, but as soon as Pine Bluffs' Hunter Thompson answered with a slam dunk to tie it up, it was all Hornets from that point on.
By the end of the first quarter, Pine Bluffs was ahead 23-6. Add to that the 22 points they scored in the second compared to the Coyotes' 4 points, the Hornets took a 45-10 lead into halftime.
