A trip back in time

Bryon Cushing and his son Hank look over the items found in the time capsule. Cushing is looking to see if he can recall anything about placing the items in the capsule.

Last Friday crews tasked with the work of removing dying trees in Pine Bluffs and planting new ones as part of the town's reforestation project unearthed a time capsule in Reher Park.

The capsule appeared as Mitch Reisdorfer and Chris Walstone, of Cheyenne Lawn and Tree Care, were in the process of pushing over the tree just to the west of the marker which, in 1969, dedicated the park in honor of Virgil V. Reher, who served Pine Bluffs as a councilman and mayor from 1961-68.

The capsule, buried on Arbor Day, 1986, was first spotted by Walstone who turned it over to Reisdorfer, his boss.
