Panhandle lady golfers bounce back after storms

Under blue skies and a beautiful sunny day, 43 ladies from around the Panhandle joined together for a fun day of golf on what could have very well been a closed course following severe thunderstorms from the previous week, including a tornado, the Chimney Rock Golf Course in Bayard, Neb..

Thanks to all the hard work from many, the course was open and in excellent shape.

Third place – 64.95 – Jane Faber, Dee Vogel, Wendy Kostman and Kathy France.

Second place team with 64.25 Penny Yekel, Cindy Korell and Sharon Havely.

Hole prizes of $10.00 each were awarded to “A” player Jane Vaber – “B” Sharon Wholers – “C” Cindy Korrell and “D” Beth Korrell for longest drives on hole #4.

The ladies enjoyed a delicious lunch following play and all send out a big thank you to T.R. and his staff on all their hard work.

A donation basket was passed around so all could donate in helping in a small way with the costs of repairing the course following the damage done by the previous week’s storm.

Once again, all the ladies had a great time and will be playing again following the 4th on July 10 in Sidney, Neb..

All members are reminded to let Connie Booth know if you will be playing by Wednesday, July 5, either to her e-mail at (cell) 308-631-7613 or (work) 307-532-3195.If 50 and over and interested in joining the Panhandle Senior Women’s Golf Association contact Connie as well – we always welcome newcomers.
