Lady Hornets go 3-0 for the week

September 20, 2018

The Pine Bluffs Lady Hornet netters won three matches in as many days last week to make their record 13-3-1 on the year.

Here’s how they stacked up.

VS Leyton

Struggles in the third game made it necessary for the Hornets to play three games against Leyton.

They opened play with a 25-14 and 25-13 win but dropped the third game 21-25.

“We played solid volleyball the first two games, but struggled to keep our focus in the third,” head coach Lisa Gilbert said. “We picked it back up and finished the fourth.”

AT SOUTHEAST

The Lady Hornets won in three 25-17, 26-34 and 25-7.

Gilbert said passing times didn’t allow the team to effectively run its offense, though that hardly seemed to matter.

SOUTHEAST NUMBERS

AT GLENROCK

It took the Lady Hornets four games to win the match against Glenrock played Saturday.

But, if you ask Gilbert, a win is a win.

The Hornets won their first match 25-18 before dropping the second 20-25.

They regrouped and won the next two 25-17 and 25-13.

“We were flat and never got anything rolling,” Gilbert said. “We got caught standing quite a bit and Glenrock doesn’t let a whole lot drop. We must be aggressive at all times against teams like that. It’s better to learn how to get out of these ruts now than later.”

GLENROCK NUMBERS
