The Lions Club awarded their Student of the Quarter Awards tonight at a dinner held at the Rock Ranch Restaurant here in Pine Bluffs. Mackenzie Faircloth, a senior from Burns and Ty Sweeter, a freshman from Pine Bluffs, were each awarded a plaque and a check for $100.00. In an annual presentation each school picks an outstanding student to receive these awards.

Mackenzie not only has high ambitions, she carries an amazing workload. President of the FFA, member of the leadership team of FCA, part of the Association of Christian Athletes, a Frontier Days Dandy, member of the 4H club, FBLA, and if that wasn't enough, she also plays indoor and outdoor track and volleyball. Mackenzie plans to attend University of Wyoming to study pre-veterinarian classes and then on to either Colorado State or Ohio State University to become a doctor of veterinarian medicine. When asked about her amazing workload, parents Ed and Kim Faircloth stated. "We figured we'd introduce her to everything...our goal was to keep her busy and keep her out of trouble." Humble and with a quick smile Mackenzie just shrugged and said that she likes it that way.

Ty Sweeter stays just as busy, but has a couple more years to decide where he would like his life to go. Ty participated in shotgun, bow, muzzleloader, and pistol shooting in 4H, and is a member of Freshman Friends Forever. Ty succeeded in making the varsity basketball team as a freshman, and also plays football and track. "It's harder than you would think to make the varsity team when you're young." Said Ty.

The Lions Club is also hosting their annual Easter egg hunt this Saturday at the Leaning Rock Golf Course at 2 p.m. Members would like everyone to know that the hunt is divided by age from toddler to sixth grade, and they encourage everyone to come out for the fun. As always the Lions would like to encourage anyone interested in joining to contact the Pine Bluffs Lions Club for more information.
