Burns/Pine Bluffs XC Girls travel to Fort Collins to compete

September 26, 2019

Happy Homecoming for XC too--this week was crazy with the changes to the XC schedule in the 11th hour. The Pine Bluffs/Burns XC team traveled to Fort Collins, Colorado to compete--this meet was much much smaller than in years past. There were 6 races beginning at 3 pm, so it made for a long day. We were missing a few harriers this week due to injuries, homecoming festivities, and grades, but it was a great day for an XC meet.

Junior High ran a 2.2-mile race today. We split our kids into Varsity and JV today, but the races should have been combined since they were not really that big. We didn't have any top 10 placers, but our kids' times were wonderful!!! It’s hard to show off how good they ran this week since the raced is such a different length, but our top girls were Jordan Greiss (17:06) and Merina Theobald (20:15). Our top two boys were a minute behind each other Ethan Norris (17:00) and Terry Farmer (18:00).

Our kids fought hard--the boys are running in a pretty tight pack and all but 3 cut time today--with Colby Stockton cutting nearly a minute off from last week and being the top harrier of the day with a time of 18:48. Greg Fornstrom was our number 2 and trimmed 23 seconds off and was almost at his PR with a time of 19:24. The number 3 boy this week was Morgan Medina--he cut 19 seconds off and got his first sub20 of the season with a time of 19:54. These boys are making huge strides.

The Pine Bluffs/ Burns ladies ran with a couple missing today, but they ran well! Piper Perez placed 11th shaving 12 seconds off her time (20:47) and Emma Gonzalez was close behind her 15th place and took 5 seconds off from last week (21:08). Layne Burnett wrapped up our top three with a time of 22:34 cutting nearly 15 seconds off, but it was Grace Steenbergen who took almost a minute off from last week coming in at 22:58! Great Day!!

Our teams are pushing themselves harder than in years past--we are seeing great improvements each week!!! They are setting personal goals and crushing them. We are so proud of what the first half of the season has done for our kids and we are looking forward to the next few weeks--our addition of Saturday recovery practice has been wonderful and we are growing as a team together.

Results are not available as of 845pm, but will be via Milesplit… https://co.milesplit.com/meets/364786/results#.XYWOtKjYrnE

We competed in the Middle School Varsity, Middle School JV, HS Boys, and HS Girls.

We are looking forward to running next week to continue our successes in Saratoga at the Resort and Golf Course. Hopefully, the weather is lovely--it looks like high 60s for now. We would LOVE some fall sunshine.
