The new Dollar General held their grand opening here in Pine Bluffs on March 7, 2020. The first person in the store was able to cut the ribbon for the celebration. Dion Clark was the first customer of the day, and she sliced the ribbon allowing people in to shop.

New store Manager Sherry Boryczko handed Clark the scissors to officially start the day, though the store had actually been ringing up customers for the past couple of weeks. The Dollar General has been a welcome addition to our little town, and the folks there want to make sure that the residents of Pine know that they are here for them.

Boryczko wanted residents to know that the store had shortened their hours slightly, closing at 9 p.m. in order to spend time sanitizing the store from top to bottom, and there was a new shopping hour added in the morning. Senior citizens who need to get supplies, but don't wish to break the self-quarantine are now able to shop from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. without fear of running into the younger people that may or may not be carrying the virus.

While there is some fear that the Dollar General may affect the livelihood of the Texas Trail Market, I see items in both stores that you can't get at the other, so I say for this instance, this town is certainly big enough for the two of them.
