Pine Bluffs Lady Hornets beat Lusk on the road Friday, Sept. 11 for their first win of the season.

"It was a must win for us," said Wynema Engstrom. "We have struggled in the past with communication, passing and reading the offense to properly execute our defense.  All of those issues were taken care of by the girls against Lusk."

The Hornets won in three games, 25-11, 25-11, and 25-15.

Jaden Shelit had 11 kills, 2 ace serves, and 12 digs.

Alli Borgman had 6 kills and 6 blocks.

Andrea Reifshneider had 19 assists out of 63 attempts, and went 13 for 13 from the line.

Alexis DePaulitte had 6 ace serves, went 19 for 19 from the line, and had 7 digs.

"Our setter Andrea Reifschneider is really reading the defense well and moving the ball across the net to allow for all hitters the opportunity to score.  It was nice to see our passing improve and watch our hitters thrive off of a great set," said Engstrom.

The Hornets will travel to Glenrock on Saturday, Sept. 19 to take on the Herders (2-5).

"Glenrock will be a tough game.  I have preached to the girls all season that every game will be a battle. There is no one stand out team in our conference and the fight for seating in the regional tournament is critical this year," said Engstrom. "I am very happy how our girls are responding."
