Cross country halfway through season, looks forward to Saratoga

Pine Bluffs/Burns Cross Country ran in Sinclair for the Rawlins Invite on Friday, Sept. 18.
The varsity boys race had 30 total runners.
Colby Stockton finished ninth and Greg Fornstrom 15th.
“It has been great to see them work hard, train year-round, and support their teammates too,” said Ashley Rousseau, head coach for Pine Bluffs. “These boys are running great races each week and I am so excited to see the improvements in the next 4 weeks before regionals.”
The varsity girls race had 30 total runners.
Emma Gonzalez finished third, Layne Burnett seventh, Jordan Griess 13th, and Shelby Thurin 23rd.
“Emma keeps PRing at each meet. She is finding her stride and it is so exciting to watch her improve each week. Layne and Emma both got the top 10 honors, and Shelby and Jordan both ran wonderful races,” said Rousseau.
The JV boys race had 28 total runners.
Clay James finished sixth, Logan Stockton eighth, Austin Clark 11th, Beckett Cassell 18th, and Scott Fornstrom 23rd.
“Clay James lead the JV squad and was able to get 6th overall. Austin Clark missed the top 10 by mere seconds. Our squad is competing. It is nice to see the boys pace each other and encourage each other too,” said Rousseau.
The JV girls race had 20 total runners.
Grace Steenbergen finished first, Mianna Siebert second, Austin Griess fifth, Alexa Sanchez seventh, Maegan Madden ninth, Kamber Clayson 10th, Alexis Vallance 11th, Peyton Perez 15th, Maddie Brown 19th, and Diana Sanchez 20th.
“The final race of the day was girls JV, and today we had a huge group, including senior Diana Sanchez’s first race of the season. We had 6 of our 10 JV runners get the top 10 this week,” said Rousseau.
“Next week we run in Saratoga. The course is beautiful, and the kids always have success. We are so excited to be over halfway through the season,” said Rousseau.
