On January 2, the (1-4) Burns Lady Broncs started the 2021 year with a loss to the (8-1) Bridgeport Bulldogs 78 to 51 here at home. The Lady Broncs entered the game with lots of energy and enthusiasm after the holiday break. But the Bulldogs were just to strong to overcome. The Broncs leading scorer Junior Rylee Jo Ward led the way with 23 points. Junior Molly Mosley had 7 points for the game.

The Lady Hornets went into the half trailing the Bulldogs by a score of 43 to 28. Ms. Ward and Ms. Mosley had 6 points each in the first half. Senior Jayden Gipfert nailed a 3 pointer and field goal for a total of 5 points. Junior Katie Love, Madison Thompson, Freshman A. Griess and Savannah Kirkbride each added 2 points to round out the first half totals.

In the second half the Lady Broncs continued to put the pressure on the Bulldogs. Junior Rylee Jo Ward scored 17 points hitting two 3 pointers, 5 field goals and a free throw. Freshman Jordan Griess added a 3 pointer of her own. A. Griess added 3 points, field goal and free throw, and Junior Katie Love added a field goal for 2 points to round out the score.

Coach Ward had this to say about the game, "The kids played their hearts out. That's a really really good basketball team. Few too many turnovers and we didn't rebound the ball particularly well. But I am really really proud of them. They did a good job".

The (1-4) Burns Lady Broncs next game is Tuesday January 5 at home against the (0-10) Alliance Lady Bulldogs. Start time is 5:30pm.
