Lady Hornets vs Lady Tigers

February 25, 2021

The Pine Bluffs Lady Hornets traveled to Niobrara County last Friday to take on the Niobrara County Tigers in a conference game. The Tigers won the last meeting on January 29 so the Hornets were looking to get even. The 8-9 Hornets were eager to face the 10-8 Tigers and prove themselves but tonight would not be the night. The Tigers beat the Hornets 47-36.

The Lady Hornets stumbled a bit early on as they allowed the Tigers to score 17 points in the first quarter. The Hornets put up 9 points. The defense stiffened as the second quarter closed and the Tigers were only able to score 10 points. The Hornets offense was still a bit sluggish as they were only able to put 6 points up and entered the locker room at the half trailing 27-15. The Hornets came out in the third quarter running. They put up 16 points as the defense held the Tigers to only 8 points. But the fourth quarter belonged to the Tigers as they put 12 points on the board to the Hornets 5. The Hornets fell to the Tigers 47-36.

Madi Loyd and Abby Gray (So) led the team in scoring with each athlete hitting for 9 points. Loyd hit four field goals and a free throw while Abby dropped two 3 pointers and three free throws for her points. Jaden Shelit (Jr) added eight points with a three pointer, two field goals and free throw. Andrea Reifschneider (Jr) hit two field goals while Shelby Thurin (Sr) and Meagan Madden (Sr) each sunk a field goal.
