Entrants came from Colorado, Wyoming, Nebraska, and Montana. On Friday, Dec. 31, 124 contestants participated in showmanship. Saturday, January 1, there were 168 entries. Then on Sunday, Jan. 2, there were 72 people showing. Ethan Bomberger, Colton Bomberger, and Stetson Bomberger participated so they could expose their cattle (beef) to the show environment.

The New Year Beef Bash was established due to the cancellation of the Denver Stock Show last year. Lana Hubbard of the Scottsbluffs Ag Society felt this would be a great draw for tourism of their facility. She stated, "We are very pleased on how it turned out and are encouraged for next year."

For the Bomberger boys this was the first showing of their beef for this year. Tabatha Bomberger stated, "The boys were excited to do this show, and in fact it was Stetson's first show."

This was held at the Scottsbluff County fairgrounds and was held on astroturf previously used on a ballfield.
