They respond to emergencies. They respond to our homes. They are always there when things go terribly wrong. They come to the scene of the accident and make sure that we can get to the hospital alive. But what does it take to be one of these first responders. Each EMT and Paramedic after their initial certifications are required to put in 40 to 50 hours of classroom training every two years. This is CE(continuing education) credits for their certification. There are always new techniques, new medicines and new procedures to be learned.
