Local Fedex Driver Awarded Civilian Lifesaving Award

During the Sheriff's Office's Annual Awards Ceremony, Shane Blackmon, a local FedEx driver was awarded the Civilian Lifesaving Award.

On August 20th, 2024, while delivering packages on his route, Shane Blackmon noticed a passenger car overturned on railroad tracks in the 600 block of I-80 Service Road and a female setting by the car. Shane exited his vehicle and ran to check on her. The female told Shane she had crashed her vehicle onto the tracks to try to kill herself. Shane called 911.
