    The Broncs varsity basketball team ran into a storm as they tipped off against the Southeast Cyclones. The Broncs were trying to improve on their season, but the strong Cyclones were just too much, and they fell 37-51. It was another sad loss for the Broncs. Shaw Martin would lead the team this game and put up 12 of the teams 37 points. Martin was able to hit four of six shots from the floor and four of five from the free throw line.     The Lady Broncs blew into the city of Yoder to face the Southeast Lady Cyclones last Thursday. The Lady Broncs were coming off a loss to Sundance the week before and were ready for some high winds. The Lady Broncs, led by Josie Barrett who scored 13 points in the Lady Broncs win put away the Lady Cyclones 33-24. This would bring the Lady Broncs victories to eight.     The Burns/Pine Bluffs indoor track team competed in Cheyenne at the 2024 Kevin Salverson Invitational track meet. Teams from the local area like Cheyenne Central, Cheyenne East, Laramie, Rawlins and Torrington converged in Cheyenne at Central High School for the meet.     The Lady Hornets had their wings clipped last Saturday when they faced the Lingle-Ft Laramie Lady Doggers in a conference game. The Lady Hornets played a good game in the middle but let the Lady Doggers start and finish in good fashion. The Lady Hornets were only able to put up four points in the first quarter thanks to the efforts of Reese Graves and Avery Sweeter.     The Hornets boys' varsity basketball team faced the Lingle-Ft Laramie Doggers in a conference game last Saturday. The Hornets did well with a herculean effort by Carsten Freeburg who scored 31 points in the game. It was a close game as both teams gave 100%.     The Lady Broncs basketball team showed the Lady Hornets the gate as they faced off in a conference match-up last Saturday. The Lady Broncs beat the Lady Hornets 51-34. The Lady Broncs had outstanding performances by Jordan Griess and Brooklyn Kopetzky who both scored in double digits.     The Burns/Pine Bluffs wrestling team competed in Riverton, Wyoming last weekend. The boys and girls teams fought some hard battles against more than 35 different teams. The girls fared well and placed 20th in a field of 39 schools. The boys team is still young and in need of experience as they placed 38th out of 44 teams.     The Lady Broncs tipped off against the Sundance Lady Bulldogs in a non-conference game last Saturday. The Lady Broncs offense was off just a bit and unable to really hit their shots or put points up on the board.     The Hornets varsity basketball team tipped off against the Lusk Tigers last Friday. In a very close conference game the Hornets gave the Tigers everything they could and held the game close till the end.     The Broncs boys’ varsity basketball team faced off against the Sundance Bulldogs in a non-conference match up last Saturday. The Broncs, still having growing pains, did well but could not over come the aggressive Bulldogs. The Broncs fell 30-49. Mason Medley led the charge for the Broncs. Tayten Zitek and the rest of the Cheyenne East golf team have been selected to represent the state of Wyoming at a national golf tournament in April. Zitek, the son of Chris and Amy Zitek and grandson of Jim and Kate Zitek, and the rest of the Cheyenne East golf team won the state 4A championship last year.     The Burns Broncs fell to the bite of the Hornets last Saturday in a conference match-up. Despite the efforts of Mason Medley and Parker Ochsner who each scored double digits, the Bucking Broncs could not overcome the Hornets swarm and fell 37-59.
