The village board meets Wednesday, Aug. 14, at 7 p.m.

The village office is now open Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Dwayne Brackeen went to Oregon last week for his grandson’s wedding — he says it was a beautiful ceremony held on the bride’s grandparents’ farm, with many friends and relatives in attendance.

The Bushnell Day committee would like to thank Clean Harbors, Kimball State Bank & Insurance, First Tier Bank, and The Sisters Grimm for sponsoring this year’s Bushnell Day entertainment and advertising.

The Green Valley Homesteaders will be performing from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Bushnell Day (Saturday, Aug. 17). The church is also holding a hamburger feed and pie social for those two hours — $5 for a burger meal and donations for dessert.

We are trying something different for Bushnell Day (Saturday, Aug. 17) this year — vendors do not need to sign up in advance or pay a fee to have a booth. Spaces will only be available in the park, not the community center. And it’s all first come, first serve — so get there early for a good spot! Tables and chairs will NOT be provided this year. Sell crafts, food, or just hold your garage sale in the park.

However, those who would like to be in the parade DO need to sign up in advance so we can determine the best arrangement. Forms are available at the village office. We encourage our neighbors in Pine Bluffs and Kimball to be a part of our parade as well! Businesses, groups, individuals, vintage cars, tractors … there are many ways to participate. Please email or call me if you’re interested (see contact information below).

The bookstore is open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. You’re also welcome to make an appointment to visit at another time, provided we can arrange for someone to be here.

Johnson’s Surplus is still open on Sundays. Stop in to see what new items they have in the store!
